After almost 6 years under the name ArrowPilates, I’ve decided it’s time for a change. We all change over time – it’s a part of life, and while it can be hard to let go of what was, embracing the new helps us grow. The same applies for our brand.
So I’m really excited to introduce you to our new brand – Contrology Gymnasium.
What is a brand?
A brand for me is more than a logo – it’s what I stand for and believe in as a studio owner and Pilates instructor. It encompasses what we teach, how we teach it and the equipment we use. And most importantly, the brand lets you know what you can expect from us, and how we add value to your life. Our new branding clarifies and celebrates all these things.
Before we go any further, I want to reassure you that we will still be teaching the Traditional Pilates Method. We will still be teaching on the same equipment, offering private and duet sessions as well as teaching small equipment classes. We will still provide the highest quality classes and safety levels to our practitioners. We will just look a little different.
Now, to make sense of the new name, we must go back to the beginning.
The Origin
As you know, Pilates was the life’s work of Joseph Pilates. When he founded this method of movement, he did not name it after himself, he called it Contrology, meaning; “complete coordination of body, mind and spirit.” We want our studio to operate under this ethos, so you will frequently hear us saying, ‘move with control’, just as Joseph would have when he taught.
Interestingly, when Joseph first opened his studio in New York he didn’t call it a ‘studio’. He called it a ‘body conditioning gym’. The word gym, or gymnasium, means ‘building or room equipped for gymnastics, games and other physical activities’. I see our space as an original gym, equipped for controlled movement and definitely physical activity!
I’m sure you can see where I’m going with this. Combing the Traditional Pilates Method in a fully equipped gym, I give you Contrology Gymnasium. A classic approach under a new brand, all designed to help you develop a better, functioning body.
Reveal
The brand will be fully revealed from early 2022, so keep your eye out for the new name and new look on our online platforms.
I can’t wait for you to join me on this new and exciting journey. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
